Pre-Convention Meeting july 13, 2010

A meeting was called to order by Vice-Chair Karen Garcia of the Garland County Democratic Central Committee at 5pm at the Democratic Headquarters, 608 Grand Ave. The purpose was to have a pre-convention meeting to inform all delegates what their responsibilies were and the times the separate committees convened Saturday in Little Rock.
Karen informed us that we were short the number of delegates allowed so that anyone that had signed up as an alternate was therefore elevated to delegate position. The GCDCC was also eligible to place 3 men and 3 women on the Executive Board. The Chair and Vice-chair being automatically members by default. John Martineau said he wanted to run for one of the positions and asked for the support from those members present.
The Party Platform was not going to be available for discussion until Saturday morning as the DPA Rules Committee hadn't worked it out completely for publication.

The first thing I was waiting for was an opportunity to be a part of the Party Platform. We, as a grass roots organization, must have input into the Party Platform particularly since it hadn't been formalized. Agreeing on what we want the Democratic Party to achieve in the upcoming cycle is the sole purpose of the pre-convention. How can it be "democratic" if no one says what it is they expect their party to stand for? It is the reason we have the Blanche Lincoln's and Mike Ross' doing their collective "what's good for me is good for Arkansas" hoe down in Washington. Karen never asked for input on what we thought our goals and aspirations were for the Party. Like sheep to slaughter, we are expected to shut up and 'vote Democrat'. It is the purpose of the pre-convention to get everybody to agree on what the goals of the Party should be and to present a united front to the general assembly Saturday. The last convention we went to, every other county had all their ducks in a row. When the dust settled, Garland county had no delegate going to the National Convention in Denver because the other counties had joined forces to get the delegate they wanted. The largest county committee got snookered. It looks like it will happen again.
It points up the one thing lacking in Garland County is leadership.

  1. There are so many errors in these statements I don't know where to begin. You will not be electing delegates to the Executive Board, which is actually the Executive Committee. You will be electing delegates to the State Party.

What is the ADP? It's DPA.

What grass roots organization is it you're a part of? The Grass Roots Dissenters? If you'd spend as much time learning about DPA structure as you do trying to destroy the GCDCC, you might be listened to.

Can you not see what a hullabaloo Saturday's meeting would be if all the delegates were asked to contribute to the platform? What's different about this and the National Convention? If you want to go to the Democratic National Convention in '12 start making friends instead of enemies, get out and promote yourself as a true Democrat with members of the Executive Committee. If you make it, good luck on having a say in the national platform.

  2. Seems that the person destroying the GCDCC is not Ms. Ladd, but the chair they have named Hozendorf. I've heard from many folks he has run off in the last year with his totalitarian rule and his lack of supporting the President of the United States and the DNC Party Platform. What organization are you part of? Are you in the organization that came in from out of state to camp in the GCDCC headquarters to campaign for the RED Senator Lincoln that rarely if ever supports the Democratic President and rarely votes Democrat? You obviously haven't been involved in the GCDCC as long as Ms. Ladd if you are telling her to "promote yourself as a true Democrat" with the members of the Executive Committee when they aren't true Democrats themselves! LOL at you for keeping your head in a dark Red spot in this fine state of Awkansaw! Anybody I know that are on the GCDCC knows full well that the chair of the GCDCC has fought tooth and nail to keep their members from supporting the Platform of the DNC and TRUE democrats running in the primary. There are those of us in Garland County Ben that know the truth about the totalitarian control of the chair of the GCDCC and his bid to "take over" the Election Commission. I am truly laughing at your immature head in the dark red spot of support of an un-democratic leader that has run off so many supporters of our President that they meet in places other than the GCDCC to plan how to support the Party Platform that you scoff upon. As far as Ms. Ladd goes...anyone with a brain in their head and long enough tenure in Hot Springs knows full well she is a TRUE Democrat...What are you doing to prove your standing as a TRUE Democrat? Kissing up to the Chair of the GCDCC doesn't count, that's just plain ignorant of Democracy.
